The Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Emir of Ilorin, Alh Ibrahim Sulu- Gambari, Arewa Consultative Forum(ACF), the Gamji Members Association( GAMA), and the Nigeria Union of Journalists( NUJ), have hailed the re-election of Alh AbdulMumini AbdulMalik as president of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union(IEDPU).
Governor AbdulRazaq, in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, congratulated AbdulMalik and other members of the executive committee of IEDPU following a new election on December 26, 2025.
AbdulRazaq said their election was a vote of confidence in their record as bonafide leaders of the people.
He specifically congratulated Alhaji AbdulMumin AbdulMalik on his deserving re-election as President of the apex socio-cultural body of the Ilorin people.
“The re-election of the President is a testament to the widespread confidence that he enjoys from far and near, and we have no doubt that Alhaji Abdulmalik and other members of the important body will build on their successes over the last few years, esp the successful completion of the Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari Hub for the good of our people,” he said.
The governor asked Allaah to continue to guide Alhaji Abdulmalik and other members of the IEDPU National Executive Council and give them enduring successes.
The Emir of Ilorin, Alh Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari congratulated AbdulMalik, on his re-election for a second term of office.
He also rejoiced with other newly elected members of the national executive council of the union.
The Emir, in a statement issued by the his press secretary, Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona, added that, “I am overwhelmed by the peaceful conduct of the processes that produced the new excos.”
The Emir also expressed joy over the just concluded IEDPU’s 60th anniversary, the commissioning of IEDPU Hub as well as the induction of 25 eminent personalities into the Ilorin Emirate Hall of Fame.
The Arewa Consultative Forum( ACF) Kwara State chapter, has congratulated AbdulMalik on his re- election for a second term.
The ACF in a congratulatory message signed by its acting chairman, Alh Abdullahi Yusuf and the director of Media and Documentation, Alh Abdullahi Olesin, described AbdulMalik’s re-election as well deserved.
The association expressed delight that AbdulMalik has stabilised the IEDPU, making it a union that truly belongs to all bonafide indigenes of Ilorin Emirate across Asa, Moro, Ilorin West, Ilorin East and Ilorin local government areas.
It also noted that the IEDPU as a result of purposeful leadership rendered by AbdulMalik has achieved a lot in the last two years, citing the completion of Dr Ibrahim Sulu- Gambari Hub and the union’s ultral- modern Mosque nearing completion.
The ACF while urging AbdulMalik to strive to consolidate on the gains of his first tenure wished him and his team a successful tenure.
Also, the Gamji Members Association (GAMA) in Kwara State, has rejoiced with AbdulMalik on his re- election for a second term.
The GAMA in a statement signed by its president general , Alh Tunde Akanbi and the director of publicity, Alh Abdullahi Olesin, described AbdulMalik’s re-election as well deserved.
The association praised AbdulMalik for bringing a lot of positive innovations into the running of the affairs of IEDPU in the last two years.
It noted that the calm disposition of AbdulMalik had encouraged more prominent indigenes of Ilorin Emirate to take keen interest in the affairs of the union.
The GAMA also congratulated other elected officials of the union, urging them to cooperate with the president to move the IEDPU to a more greater heights.
In the same vein, the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has congratulated AbdulMalik, on his re-election as the national president of IEDPU.
The union, in a statement jointly signed by its chairman, Abdullateef Ahmed and secretary, Olayinka Alaya, described the re-election, which was unopposed, as a clear demonstration of confidence in AbdulMalik’s leadership style and an acknowledgement of the remarkable achievements recorded during his first tenure.
According to the statement, the overwhelming support the IEDPU national president enjoys, reflects his commitment to unity, transparency, and progressive development within the Ilorin Emirate, adding that his leadership has further strengthened the relevance of the Union as a formidable socio-cultural organization.
The NUJ also congratulated other executive members who were either re-elected or newly elected into the leadership of the Union, particularly Mallam Shuaib Sulaiman Dagbo, a seasoned broadcaster with Radio Nigeria Harmony FM, who emerged as the new national publicity secretary.
The journalists’ body pledged its continued support and collaboration with the leadership of IEDPU in promoting unity, peace, and cordial relationship among stakeholders in Kwara State, particularly within the Ilorin Emirate.
The NUJ, however, urged the re-elected executives to see their renewed mandate as a call to greater service, encouraging them to consolidate on existing achievements and initiate more people-oriented programmes that would stimulate development and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the ancient city of Ilorin.
