Political leaders in Nasarawa North Senatorial District of Nasarawa State have demanded for the zoning of the governorship slot to the area ahead of the 2027 elections.
The leaders under the auspices of Nasarawa North Political Consultative Forum (NNPCF) conveyed the demand in a communiqué signed by Sen. John M. Danboyi and Salihu Ahmad ALIZAGA, and made available to journalists in Lafia.
The leaders said it is pertinent that the zone be considered for the slot after the incumbent Governor, Abdullahi Sule runs his term which ends in 2027 in the spirit of equity, fairness, and justice.
LEADERSHIP reports that Governor Sule who is running his last term is also from Nasarawa North.
The leaders premised their demand on the fact that the zone is the last to be considered in the existing power rotation arrangement to produce the state’s number one position.
“The Forum (NNPCF) met at Akwanga on Monday, 29th December, 2025, and deliberated on matters of common interest for the progress of the people of the zone in the coming political dispensation in Nasarawa State.
”After exhaustive discussion and extensive exchange of views on the agenda of the meeting, the leaders of the zone unanimously issued the following communiqué and resolved that the 2027 governorship position be zoned to the Nasarawa North Senatorial District in the interest of equity, fairness, and justice.
“The Forum urges all major political parties to zone their governorship tickets to Nasarawa North Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections to uphold and promote the unity and harmonious development of our dear state.
”The Forum encourages all politicians and political actors from the Nasarawa North Senatorial District to align their ambitions and interests with this collective position.
“The Forum calls on all sons and daughters of Nasarawa North Senatorial District, to unite and work together toward the realization of this common goal.
“The Forum urges all leaders of the Zone to reach out to leaders and well-wishers from Nasarawa West and Nasarawa South Senatorial Districts to extend their goodwill and support to Nasarawa North in 2027 to unite our state for a brighter future for all our communities,” the communiqué reads in part.
