The Jigawa State government has distributed 70 motorcycles to facilitate the movement of school monitoring officials across all 27 local government areas of the state.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony for the distribution, the State Commissioner for Higher Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Isah Yusuf Chamo, stated that the provision of the vehicles is part of Governor Umar Namadi’s efforts to reposition the state’s education sector.

He explained that constant school monitoring, which enables timely reporting of developments, promotes effective service delivery, and ensures accountability, is essential for achieving meaningful educational reform.

Prof. Chamo added that, to ensure consistent monitoring of all schools, including hard-to-reach rural areas, the government deemed it necessary to purchase and distribute the motorcycles to the beneficiaries.

According to him, 47 motorcycles were distributed to the Special Assistants on School Monitoring to the Governor, with two in each local government and to the Chairmen of the School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs) in all 27 local government areas.

He also revealed that the State Governor has approved ₦100 million for the repair of vehicles in all seven Education Zonal Offices across the state. This is intended to enhance their mobility and enable them to carry out their duties in line with the ongoing educational reforms in the state.

The commissioner then charged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the motorcycles in carrying out their assigned tasks.

“Your work is important because you are the governor’s representatives in the field and also representatives of your communities. You are expected to exhibit sincerity, maturity, commitment, and patriotism in this assessment, which is vital for achieving sustainable future development,” Prof. Chamo stated.
