United Nigeria Airlines has issued a formal apology to Nollywood actress Bolaji Ogunmola and other affected passengers following the disruption of Flight UN0623 from Ekiti to Lagos.

In an official statement signed by the airline’s Public Relations Officer, Chibuike Uloka, United Nigeria Airlines acknowledged the concerns raised by the actress in a viral video and expressed regret over the inconvenience caused.

“United Nigeria Airlines acknowledges the concerns raised by Ms Bolaji Ogunmola in a now viral video broadcast regarding the recent disruption to her travel plans. We offer our sincerest apologies for the inconveniences to her, and all affected passengers,” the statement read.

The airline said it fully recognised the impact of flight delays and cancellations on passengers, particularly when they affect major personal and professional commitments.

“We deeply regret that Ms Ogunmola was affected by these circumstances,” it added.

According to the airline, Flight UN0623, scheduled for January 7, 2026, was disrupted due to unscheduled aircraft maintenance, noting that affected passengers were duly informed via email and text messages.

“In prioritising our passengers, the flight was specially reintroduced into our operations on 8 January 2026, despite the Ekiti–Lagos route not being part of our scheduled services for the day,” the statement said.

United Nigeria Airlines further stated that it complied fully with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Consumer Protection Regulations.

“In line with our commitment to passenger welfare, United Nigeria Airlines ensured full compliance with all applicable NCAA Consumer Protection Regulations, including passenger care obligations during flight disruptions, as provided under Part 19 of the NCAA Consumer Protection Regulations,” it said.

The airline reiterated its apology and commitment to improved service delivery.

“United Nigeria Airlines offers its unreserved apologies to Ms Ogunmola and all other affected passengers. We remain steadfast in our commitment to the highest standards of safety, operational excellence, and exceptional customer service,” the statement concluded.

The apology followed an emotional video shared by the Nollywood actress on Thursday, in which she accused the airline of negligence and lack of empathy after being stranded in Ekiti State due to multiple flight cancellations. Ogunmola said the incident disrupted her ₦20million movie production in Lagos.
