The wife of Abia State governor, Pricillia Otti, has donated N6 million, foodstuff, and various items to six charity homes in the state.

‎The homes are Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Motherless Babies Home; Ngwa Road Motherless Babies Home; and Victims of Need Social and Motherless Babies Home, all in Aba.

Others are St. Vincent De Paul Home for the Mentally and Physically Challenged;  Daughters of Mary Mother of Mercy Compassion Home, and So Said Charity Home, Umuahia, the state capital.

Speaking during the visits, she said the gesture was inspired by the New Year celebrations and her desire to ensure that vulnerable children and caregivers in the society are not left behind.

The first lady, who also reaffirmed her commitment to child welfare, recalled her declaration at the commencement of the administration that every child in the state is hers.

She said the government had intensified efforts to end baby factories, and child trafficking and exploitation in the state, through the Ministries of Women Affairs  and Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection.

Her words: “The government will continue to support charity homes and similar institutions with food supplies, essential materials, and financial assistance to ease the burden on the caregivers.”
