Governor of Adamawa State Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of ex-servicemen and the families of the fallen heroes.

Fintiri spoke at the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day emblem appeal fund, held at the Government House, Yola

He reiterated continuous commitment to supporting ideas and initiatives geared towards enhancing the living standard of the ex-service and serving men and women.

Represented by his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, he acknowledged the sacrifices and gallantry of the armed forces in the face of insecurity among other threats.

He pledged sustained collaboration with the Nigerian Legion and relevant stakeholders to ensure that those who served the nation with honour are not forgotten.

The remembrance according to him, is beyond honouring the fallen heroes who paid the supreme price in defence of Nigeria’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, but also to appreciate the serving officers and veterans who continue to bear the physical and emotional scars of war and peacekeeping operations.

As such, governor Fintiri said the celebration stands as a symbol of courage, patriotism and selfless service.

The governor therefore, emphasized that the resilience and dedication of the Nigerian armed forces deserves not only admiration but tangible support.

Earlier, the state chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Master Warrant Officer Ali Mohammed (Rtd). explained that the remembrance celebration recognises and appreciates the sacrifices of the veterans in the First, and Second World Wars, the Nigerian Civil War, peace support operations, especially the ongoing war on insecurity in North East Nigeria.

He saluted the gallantry, courage and sacrifices of men and women of the armed forces in facing the diverse and contemporary security challenges in the country.

The chairman lauded the government and donors who continue to support the Legion in diverse ways.
