Former Senate minority leader and senator representing Plateau North Simon Mwadkwon Fwet, has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mwadkon who was elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made his position known when he visited elders of the APC in Barkin Ladi council of Plateau State yesterday.
Mwadkon also revealed his intention to contest the Plateau North senatorial seat on the APC ticket.
He said “I am here to announce my entry to the APC and to seek wise counsel from the Local Government Party Elders.”
Madkwom further said the decision followed wide consultations with constituents, political stakeholders, family members, and associates.
“This realignment is also driven by the genuine desire of Governor Caleb Mutfwang to serve our people more effectively and ensure that our voices are heard and respected at the highest decision-making tables where the destinies of our communities are being shaped.”
He assured the party elders that his entry into the APC is to join hands with them to build the party, adding that his defection marks another significant boost for the APC in Plateau ahead of the 2027 election.
Chairman of APC Elders Council in Barkin Ladi LGA, Chief Solomon Bature, in a welcome address to the senator, said the party is open for membership, and encouraged everyone to be honest and faithful to the party.
Mwadkon was accompanied to the visit by Hon Dalyop Mancha, Jackson Rwang and several other supporters.
