The victims’ remains have been recovered and given a mass burial.

Guzamala -Abbari village is about a 15km drive from the newly resettled Mairari village of Guzamala council, while Gudumbali, the local government Headquarters of Guzamala, remained deserted and inaccessible for many years due to Boko Haram attacks.

In Guzamala-Abbari, 12 bodies of the victims have been recovered and given a mass burial according to Islamic injunction in Monguno, while the other five dead bodies, which were recovered in a nearby settlement in Nganzai Council, were buried in Gajiram town.

Speaking on Sunday night, Lawal, who hails from Guzamala LGA, and has been advocating for the liberation of Guzamala to restore civil authority in Gudumbali, confirmed the incident which took place last Saturday.

“I commiserate with the families of the victims and wish the injured ones a quick recovery. May Allah (God) grant Aljannatul Firdaus to the souls of the deceased and restore peace in our fatherland.

“As I speak, the search and rescue mission is ongoing as many people are still missing,” the speaker said.

He, however, commended the efforts of the military, other security agencies and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force/hunters for their sacrifices in the fight against Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Borno and the North East.

He added that the ongoing “Operation Desert Sanity” by troops of the Joint Task Force North East ‘Operation HADIN KAI’ should be sustained to eliminate remnants of terrorists in the Sambisa Forests, the Manadara Mountains, the shores of the Lake Chad Basin and other enclaves, for peace to reign.
