The federal government is set to break ground on a massive 500,000 housing unit “Renewed Hope Mega City” along the Abuja, Nasarawa growth corridor.

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, who disclosed this during an inspection of the proposed project site at Aso-B in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, also described the initiative as one of the most ambitious master-planned housing developments in Nigeria’s history.

Dangiwa reiterated that the project is a flagship urban development that is poised to reshape housing delivery, decongest the capital, and unlock a new economic frontier for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Spanning about 5,000 hectares, he revealed the Mega Renewed Hope City is designed as a fully integrated urban district that will significantly expand housing supply, drive infrastructure growth, and stimulate large-scale economic activity in a rapidly expanding metropolitan corridor.

Dangiwa said the mega city is a cornerstone of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, targeting mass affordable housing delivery, improved urban liveability, climate-resilient infrastructure, job creation and long-term sustainable planning.

“This Mega Renewed Hope City is not just a housing project; it is a strategic urban expansion blueprint that will deliver inclusive, resilient and economically vibrant communities for present and future generations,” the minister stated.

He assured that compensation, stakeholder consultations and community engagement will precede full rollout, underscoring the government’s commitment to transparency and social inclusion.

President Tinubu is expected to perform the foundation-laying ceremony, signalling the formal commencement of a transformative housing and urban development initiative aimed at unlocking new growth corridors and accelerating nationwide infrastructure expansion.

The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development will coordinate and oversee development; the Ministry of Finance will facilitate financing structures; while the Ministry of Works will handle major road infrastructure to support connectivity.
