Former minister of defense Lt. Gen Theophilus Danjuma (rtd) has praised US President Donald Trump over issues of the Middle Belt, and  expressed optimism that issues of the region are now on the front burner of international discourse.

He spoke yesterday after being awarded an honorary doctorate degree  by the Plateau State University at its 8th and 9th combined convocation ceremony.

He maintained that the name ‘Middle Belt’ had become part of global vocabulary, citing when President Donald Trump of the United States publicly spoke about the situation in Nigeria, particularly as it affects communities in the Middle Belt.

“The international media took notice, many were surprised, some puzzled, yet the conversation persisted. Today, the world is listening more closely to the realities of our region. For that awareness, we are grateful,” he said.
