Governor Idris Receives Former PDP Rep, Others To APC

Kebbi State governor, Dr Nasir Idris, has received into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) the former House of Representatives member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  Umar Abdullahi Maye and other party stalwarts from Yuari, in Yuari local government area of Kebbi State.

He received them on Sunday night at APC State Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi along with the chairman of the party, Abubakar Muhammed Kana Zuru and his executive members.

While presenting the defected members to the governor, Minister of State Humanitarian Affairs And Poverty Reduction,  Hon Yusuf Tanko Sununu said, ” Today I present to you a strong member of PDP and other stalwarts of the party in Yauri whom after our vigorous persuasion have decided to join the ruling party APC.”

“I think with these people in our party, Yauri local government remain the APC area and assured to clinch all positions in the upcoming 2027 elections in Kebbi State ,” Sununu added.

Speaking while receiving them, Governor Nasir Idris expressed his happiness for the efforts made by the minister and other stakeholders of APC in Yauri in persuading them to return to the winning team.

The governor welcomed them to APC and assured that they would be part of all the activities of the ruling party in the state.

He advised them to make sure that they hold their voter’s cards intact up to the time of elections in 2027.

 

The leader of the defected members,  and former House of Representatives member from Yuari, Umar Maye said they decided to join APC after several contacts made by the minister and other stakeholders of APC in Yauri local government.

 

“We hope His Excellency will treat us equally with those who we already met in the ruling party,” Maye pleaded.

He revealed that about 100 members of the PDP consisting of ward chairmen and other executives have left their party to APC .
