The Social Democratic Party (SDP) chairmanship candidate for Gwagwalada Area Council, Barrister Khalid Bala-Gano, has promised to improve primary healthcare delivery, strengthen basic education, and enhance security across the council.
He expressed confidence in his party’s chances as residents prepare to head to the polls on Saturday, February 21, 2026
Speaking at a final campaign event, Bala-Gano described the election as the culmination of weeks of grassroots engagement, stakeholder consultations, and issue-based campaigning.
He noted that despite challenges during the campaign period, the SDP remained focused on offering practical solutions to address infrastructure deficits, improve primary healthcare delivery, strengthen basic education, and enhance security across the council.
“This election is an opportunity for residents to choose leadership that is committed to transparency, accountability, and inclusive development,” he said.
He added that with community support and “divine grace,” he believes the party will emerge victorious.
The candidate reaffirmed his commitment to people-oriented governance, promising to prioritise sustainable development programs that directly impact residents in all wards of the Area Council.
He also called on eligible voters to turn out peacefully and participate actively in the democratic process.
“The future of Gwagwalada lies in the hands of its people. I urge every voter to come out and make their voices count,” he stated.
