The Miyatti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has expressed shock over the killing of three herders allegedly by Berom youths on Thursday night along the Dorowa-Jong road in Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau State.
But the national president of Berom Youths Moulders (BYM), Barrister Solomon Dalyop, denied the allegation, saying the world, particularly Nigerians, knew that the Berom and other ethnic groups don’t have killer groups.
According to him, Fulani herdsmen have become a national menace in terrorism and MACBAN is always known for circulating this kind of sensational message.
“I call on relevant bodies to put their eyes on Miyetti Allah and its members so that they will be held accountable for any attack on our people,” Dalyop said.
The herders, Tahiru Muhammad, Jibrin Salisu and Abdulmumin Isyak, were said to have been ambushed while riding motorcycles home in Jong community after attending Qur’an Tafsir in Dorowa.
MACBAN in a statement issued by its state chairman, Yusuf Babayo, said they strongly believed that the attack was carried out by members of the Berom community who had been perpetrating violence against their members.
“Our people are being targeted and killed with impunity. We condemn this act in the strongest terms and call on authorities to investigate and bring perpetrators to justice,” he said.
The chairman further added that security agencies in Barkin Ladi had visited the scene of the incident, and urged members to remain calm and law-abiding while allowing security agencies to handle the situation.
