Carloha Nigeria has officially launched the Chery Himla pickup brand in Lagos, marking its entry into Nigeria’s fast-growing pickup segment and repositioning pickups as high-efficiency mobile business assets for commerce, agriculture, logistics, security, and regional trade.

As Nigeria’s economy expands and user expectations evolve, pickups are increasingly required to deliver enhanced productivity, durability, and operational efficiency. The Himla is designed to meet this demand, offering entrepreneurs and businesses a next-generation workhorse capable of scaling operations with fewer trips and reduced operating costs.

The managing director of Carloha Nigeria, Sola Adigun, described the unveiling as a significant milestone for the company and the Nigerian automotive market.

“Today’s launch represents a key milestone, with Himla engineered to enhance efficiency and productivity for security outfits, farmers, logistics operators, entrepreneurs and others,” Adigun said.

The Himla is built on a high-strength ladder frame with reinforced rear-spring suspension, delivering a rated payload exceeding 1,000 kilograms while maintaining stability and safety under heavy loads.

It also boasts a 3-ton towing capacity, making it suitable for hauling heavy equipment, refrigerated containers, caravans, and construction materials.

Its optimised chassis and suspension system minimise wheel arch intrusions, creating a flatter and more usable cargo bed. Integrated side and rear steps simplify loading and unloading, enhancing workflow efficiency in demanding commercial environments.

For rugged terrain operations, the pickup features advanced 4×4 capability and 265 mm ground clearance, ensuring durability and control on rough job sites and remote rural roads.

The model is available in internal combustion engine (ICE) variants tailored to diverse operational needs.

Beyond its work-focused engineering, the Himla integrates premium features designed to enhance driver and passenger experience. These include leather seating, a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, a 9.2-inch digital dashboard display, enhanced rear-seat comfort, cargo anchoring points, and advanced driver assistance systems in higher-end models.

During the launch event, motoring journalists, customers, and automobile enthusiasts test-drove the pickup across simulated terrains to assess its 4×4 performance, hill approach and descent angles, towing and load-carrying capacity, water-wading ability, stability control, in-cabin quietness, and overall comfort.

The general manager, Marketing at Carloha Nigeria, Felix Mahan, described the Hiwho mla as a cornerstone product in Chery’s global pickup strategy.

He noted that the vehicle combines class-leading cargo capacity, hardcore load capability, advanced technology, and climate-adapted engineering to serve Nigerian entrepreneurs as a dependable business partner.

Multiple heavy-duty anchoring points ensure cargo stability across rough terrain.

Carloha Nigeria also announced that the Himla comes with a class-leading six-year warranty, underscoring the brand’s confidence in its durability and long-term value proposition in the Nigerian market.
