To ease the burden of the holy month on residents, the Bala Wunti Support Organisation (BWSO) has distributed food items and cash to persons living with disabilities in Bauchi State.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to social inclusion and humanitarian service.
Speaking during the 2026 Ramadan distribution exercise, the Chief Executive Officer of the organisation, Muktar Jarmajo, said the intervention was designed to cushion the impact of prevailing economic hardship, particularly during the festive season when vulnerable households often face heightened financial strain.
“This initiative is about restoring dignity and ensuring that persons with disabilities are not left behind,” he said.
The distribution saw beneficiaries receive 10kg bags of rice and a total donation of N500,000 to support transportation and other pressing needs during Ramadan.
In a further show of commitment to empowerment, Jarmajo also announced an employment slot for a female person with disability, aimed at promoting economic independence.
He stressed that BWSO’s support extends beyond seasonal assistance, noting that the organisation remains focused on long-term empowerment programmes that promote self-reliance among persons with disabilities across the state.
Jarmajo called on philanthropists, development partners and well-meaning individuals to complement the organisation’s efforts in supporting vulnerable groups.
He urged leaders of disability associations to ensure transparency and fairness in the distribution process, warning that BWSO members would be mobilised to monitor compliance.
Speaking, leaders of Persons Living With Disability in Bauchi, Muktar Umar Mallam Goje and Fatima Abdulrahman expressed gratitude for what they described as a timely intervention.
