The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated over 700 bags of rice to the National Mosque in Abuja, for distribution to Muslim faithful and less-privileged residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The donation, made under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) of the Office of the First Lady, was aimed at supporting fasting Muslims during the sacred month and easing the economic burden faced by many households.
Presenting the items on behalf of the First Lady on Monday, the chairman of National Mosque Welfare Committee, Mallam Abubakar Sadiq, expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing it as timely and deeply appreciated.
“This gesture from the First Lady comes at a critical time as we prepare for Ramadan. Many families are struggling with the high cost of food items, and this support will go a long way in providing relief,” Sadiq said.
The rice was shared among widows, orphans, and other vulnerable groups across the Federal Capital Territory.
The distribution exercise was carried out within the mosque premises shortly after Zuhr prayers, with beneficiaries expressing joy and appreciation for the First Lady’s act of kindness.
