As Galatasaray prepares to step onto the pitch at the Allianz Stadium for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League playoff, manager Okan Buruk has placed Victor Osimhen at the heart of his tactical plans—not just for his finishing, but for his ability to elevate those around him.

The Nigerian striker was the engine behind Galatasaray’s stunning 5-2 demolition of Juventus in the first leg, providing two assists in a performance that left the Italian giants reeling. Now fully recovered from a minor knee concern, Osimhen is set to lead the line once again in Turin on Wednesday(Today).

Ahead of the crucial European tie, Buruk downplayed the need for his star forward to simply add to the scoresheet, instead praising his holistic contribution to the team’s success.

“Victor is incredibly valuable to us, but his importance isn’t solely measured by goals. He understands the game as a team player,” Buruk stated. “Even when he doesn’t score, he lifts the entire squad. In the first leg, he didn’t get on the scoresheet, but his fingerprints were all over three of our goals.”

While midfielder Sara grabbed the official Man of the Match award, Buruk was quick to spotlight Osimhen’s influence. “He was one of the stars of that game—just like Barış, he was a decisive figure. I have players who are willing to sacrifice for the collective, and Victor embodies that spirit.”

The former Napoli marksman was rested during Galatasaray’s weekend domestic fixture against Konyaspor as a precaution. However, Buruk confirmed that the brief respite has done its job.

“He has trained with us fully for the last two days. He is in the right condition to play,” the coach assured, signaling that the Super Lig champions will have their full arsenal available as they look to finish the job against Juventus and book their place in the next round.
