American rodeo champion Kelsie Domer is grieving the loss of her three-year-old daughter, Oaklynn, following a tragic horse accident.
According to an obituary shared on Facebook, Oaklynn died on February 19 after an incident involving one of the family’s horses. The child was described as vibrant and full of life, having spent much of her short years travelling the rodeo circuit with her parents.
“Oaklynn packed a lot in her short time with us,” the obituary read, noting her love for animals, rodeos and time with family.
Reports indicate that the accident occurred when one of the horses suddenly experienced a medical episode and fell while Domer was holding her daughter and leading the horse. The 35-year-old athlete survived the incident. Despite emergency efforts, Oaklynn later died from injuries sustained in the accident.
Domer, a 10-time Women’s Professional Rodeo Association world champion and respected breakaway roper, shares Oaklynn with her husband, Ryan Domer.
