Eight days ahead of its global release on March 6, Disney– Pixar has dropped a new trailer for the ‘Hoppers’.
The trailer shows animal lover and researcher Mabel use a clever new technology designed to ‘hop’ human consciousness into lifelike robotic animals to communicate with beavers. She, however, runs into trouble for breaking ‘pond rules’ and is oriented into the complex social hierarchies of the wild.
The scene roused a lot of comments from the hopeful to the jaded:
“I’m excited to see this movie!” @pokemontrainerspencer6090
“How did Mabel end up in that forest with animals?” @EIMollitas
“Looks better than Elio, so there’s that. Probably not going to see it in theatres though,” @BladesofElysian
“Idea not bad, but I already don’t like the main character from the first two seconds,”@evan-xy4iu
“First reaction to the trailer was, “so this is a copy of The Wild Robot, but Pixar?” @PonikoRoblox
“First impression, it looks kind of off, like the colours are duller, but it kind of works since this is a more nature-themed story. The biggest red flag for me, however, is the little bits of personality from Mabel that make her a bit of the same quirky “I’m different” type of vibe they’ve been reusing since the 2010s,” @Wintercloudysnow
Produced by Disney and Pixar, Hoppers follows Mabel, a young animal lover who uses a ‘hopping’ technology to inhabit a robotic beaver. She aims to uncover secrets in the animal world and ends up protecting the local animal habitat from a greedy, smooth-talking human mayor named Jerry Generazzo.
Directed by Daniel Chong, the animation stars Piper Curda as Mabel, Bobby Monahan as King George, Jon Hamm as Mayor Jerry Generazzo, Meryl Streep as the Insect Queen, and Kathy Najimy as Dr Sam.
