Rivers United have ascended to the summit of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table following a commanding 3-0 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri in a rescheduled fixture on Wednesday.

The emphatic win sees Coach Finidi George’s side move to 48 points, now one point clear of second-placed Enugu Rangers, with a significant advantage of two outstanding matches still to play.

The hosts made their intentions clear early on, with S. Wisdom breaking the deadlock in the 9th minute to give Rivers United a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
