Fubara To Swear-In 5 Commissioner-designates On Wednesday

Rivers State governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara will on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, swear-in five commissioner-designates, who were screened and confirmed by the State House of Assembly.

Secretary to the State Government, Dr Dagogo Wokoma, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday, said the ceremony will take place at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt by 1:00pm.

The statement listed those to be sworn in as Mr. Tonye Bellgam, Professor Temple Nwofor, Dr. Peters Nwagor, Mr. Lekue Kenneth and Sir Amairigha Edward Hart.

It reads in part, “His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, the Governor of Rivers State, will on Wednesday, 11 March, 2026, swear-in the Commissioners-designate already screened and cleared by the State House of Assembly, at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt by 1:00pm.

“The Commissioner-designate along with one (1) guest each are expected to be seated by 12:30 pm.”

The House of Assembly had on Monday screened nine commissioner-nominees sent to it last Tuesday by Fubara, confirmed five and rejected four others.

Those rejected were Professor Datonye Alasia, Mrs Charity Deemua, Tamuno Williams and Otonye TKD Amachree.

LEADERSHIP learnt that the four Commissioner-nominees were rejected for reasons ranging from tax clearance hiccups, discrepancies in names and anti-House of Assembly postures.as well as petitions from a community.
