LPP Candidate Promises Rebates For Nigerians, Targets 2027 Victory

The presidential candidate of the Liberation People’s Party (LPP), Dr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has promised to replace the government’s approach to subsidies with a rebate system designed to directly support Nigerians who pay for essential services.

Nwajiuba made the promise after his unveiling at the party’s National Convention and Presidential Primary in Abuja, where he outlined his vision for what he described as a Nigeria anchored on peace, prosperity and economic freedom.

He said his proposed government would provide rebates to citizens who pay for electricity, fuel and other necessities, arguing that government’s responsibility should be to support Nigerians rather than subsidise products or their importers.

“If you pay for electricity, government will help you pay for it. But you must pay for electricity. If you pay for fuel, government will help you pay for the fuel,” he said.

Nwajiuba said the rebate system would make citizens participants in the economy and enable government to directly address the welfare of Nigerians.

He also promised a housing policy that would categorise the country into rural, urban and semi-rural areas to promote housing development and give Nigerians greater economic freedom.

On healthcare, the LPP candidate said government should identify areas where Nigerians lacked access to hospitals and address the problems according to their needs, rather than building facilities primarily for the purpose of awarding contracts.

He said the government must also address multidimensional poverty and remove economic barriers preventing Nigerians from accessing essential services.

Nwajiuba said the LPP’s vision was based on the constitutional responsibility of government to provide security and welfare for citizens.

Earlier, LPP National Chairman, Hon Abubakar Ishaq Dogara, directed party members to take the party’s message to every part of the country ahead of the 2027 elections.

Dogara, in his opening remarks, directed members to go “from door to door, from community to community, from village to village,” listen to Nigerians and enlighten them on the party’s agenda.

He said the party had structures across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as senatorial districts, federal and state constituencies and local government areas.

In an interview after the event, Dogara said the party’s objective was to “vote for Nigeria” and make the country a working nation.

He urged Nigerians to support the LPP, saying the party had candidates across various elective positions and would work towards replacing the present government with what he described as credible leadership.

He also called on Nigerians to remain peaceful and prayerful as the 2027 elections approach.

Earlier, the Chairman of the National Planning Committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammed Biu, welcomed delegates, members of the judiciary and other dignitaries to the convention.

Biu acknowledged that the LPP was a young political party but said the gathering marked an important stage in its development.

The LPP National Convention/Presidential Primary featured the unveiling of Nwajiuba as the party’s presidential candidate and speeches outlining the party’s political and economic agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections.
