Nigerian defensive midfielder Victor Adeoye has sealed a move to Ukrainian Premier League side Kudrivka FC just days after parting ways with Kwara United.
The former Gateway FC midfielder signed a one-year deal with the Ukrainian outfit, completing a swift return to the European transfer trail following a failed move to Turkey.
Adeoye had initially been close to joining Turkish second-division side Bucaspor, but the deal collapsed after he sustained an injury while training with the club.
The midfielder subsequently returned to Nigeria and has been undergoing rehabilitation in Osogbo when the opportunity to move to Ukraine emerged.
Speaking about the transfer, Adeoye revealed that Kudrivka officials contacted his agent to understand why the proposed switch to Bucaspor fell through.
“They asked if the injury was serious and requested the results and scans,” he said. “After reviewing them, they saw that I only had about two weeks left to recover and told my agent they were ready to sign me.”
The Nigerian admitted he was surprised that the Ukrainian club proceeded with the transfer despite his current injury.
“To my surprise, they immediately began the process and sent me the contract. I went through it and signed. I still can’t believe the club decided to sign me even while I’m injured,” he added.
Adeoye, who is still completing his recovery in Osogbo, is expected to travel to Ukraine once he regains full fitness.
“I thank God for this opportunity because after the failed move to Turkey I was wondering where I would restart my career,” he said.
Kudrivka currently sit 12th in the Ukrainian Premier League standings as they look to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the season.
