Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) have called on students to rise up and challenge their leaders on national security and demand the protection of the weak and vulnerable in society.

Spokesman of the CNG, Abdul-azeez Suleiman, made the challenge at the 2nd Matriculation and Graduation ceremony of Arewa Ambassadors International College of Health Science and Technology, Tukur Tukur, Zaria.
Suleiman further urged youths to brace up and assume responsibility in all strata of life, challenging them to change the nation’s political culture from a system that calls for service to the leaders to that which promotes leaders that serve the society.

He said northern youths must also push the leaders to find lasting solution to conflicts, banditry, terrorism and incessant kidnapping in the region, while celebrating those that did well.
The group’s spokesman said when northern youths join politics they could be able to make a significant difference by charting the course to societal development.

“Provide quality basic education to the children of the poor, bring about peace to the community, stop corruption and end insecurity.
“Our North today is led by people poorly-prepared and ill-equipped to lead except for their ambitions for power and fantastic wealth. Consequently, our people are left at the mercy of armed crime, abject poverty and derision from other parts of Nigeria.
