2Baba Pushes Music-Driven Strategy To Counter Youth Violence

Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has met with the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, to explore ways in which music and entertainment can help address youth-related insecurity in the country.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Abuja, focused on a proposed initiative to use music and popular culture to counter violent narratives and promote positive engagement among young Nigerians.

The project is expected to leverage the entertainment industry’s influence as a non-kinetic approach to youth reorientation and social development.

Speaking after the meeting, 2Baba said the initiative aims to leverage creative platforms to encourage constructive dialogue and redirect young people’s energy toward nation-building.

“I had the honour of meeting with Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Defence, General CG Musa, alongside my strategic team to explore how music can help counter violent narratives among young Nigerians,” he said.

“With many young people vulnerable to negative influences, initiatives like this are important to empower creative talent and channel youth energy positively.”

In his remarks, General Musa reportedly welcomed the proposal and expressed the ministry’s openness to innovative partnerships that support efforts to maintain national security through community engagement.

The defence chief noted that collaboration with influential voices in the creative industry could help discourage youth involvement in violence and criminal activity.

2Baba has long been involved in advocacy campaigns promoting peaceful civic engagement.

The singer previously spearheaded the “Vote Not Fight” campaign in 2017 in partnership with Youngstars Foundation and the National Democratic Institute (NDI) to encourage peaceful participation in Nigeria’s electoral process.
