The Chairperson of the Planning Committee for the 5th edition of the Anambra Man of the Year Awards, Rev. Sr. Dr. Adaoma Eugenia Sochima Igwedibia, has attained a major milestone in her academic career, achieving the rank of Full Professor at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

The promotion crowns decades of distinguished scholarship and service for the renowned linguist and literary scholar, who until her elevation was an Associate Professor of English Language and Literature in the Faculty of Arts at the same university.

Co-founder, Chinedu Okafor, said Prof. Igwedibia’s academic journey traces its roots to Development Primary School, Awkuzu, and Girls’ Secondary School, Nteje, before she proceeded to the Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu.

She later attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, graduating with First Class Honours in English and Literary Studies, a distinction that earned her an automatic appointment as a lecturer at the institution.

She subsequently obtained both her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Literary Pragmatics from UNN before transferring to Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, where she has built a formidable academic and administrative career.

Prof. Igwedibia’s research interests include Pragmatics, African and African-American Literature, Diaspora Studies, and Gender Studies.

She has authored and co-authored numerous scholarly articles in reputable journals, and her English textbooks are widely used by students across Nigeria.

An active participant in the global academic community, she has presented papers at conferences locally and internationally and received Institutional-Based Research Grants and Book Development Grants from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, where she also served as former Deputy Director at UNIZIK.

Her administrative experience is equally notable. She has served as Deputy Director of the Advancement Centre at UNN; Council Member of the National Institute for Nigerian Languages, including its 5th Governing Council; Deputy Director at the Centre for Sustainable Development, UNIZIK; and Head of the Department of English Language and Literature at UNIZIK.

She currently sits on the Governing Council of the European University of Nigeria, Abuja, reflecting her expanding influence in institutional governance beyond her home university.

Her appointment as Chair of the Planning Committee for the 5th edition of the AMTY Awards has been widely praised by organizers, citing her integrity, visionary leadership, and extensive professional network as qualities aligned with the AMTY brand.

The AMTY Awards, an annual event celebrating outstanding Anambra personalities across business, academia, public service, and entertainment, is expected to draw top dignitaries, thought leaders, and young achievers from across Nigeria.

The event highlights individuals redefining excellence and inspiring a new generation of visionaries in Anambra State and beyond.
