Nigerian entrepreneurs and youths have been urged to take advantage of the opportunities that foreigners are trooping into Nigeria for on a daily basis, rather than embrace Japa syndrome and travel abroad in droves.

Former chairman of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Oyo State chapter, Abiodun Ajibade, who stated this during the opening of a programme christened “GenSpark 2026: Entrepreneurs’ Empowerment Summit and Ibadan Business Exhibition” with the theme “Local production as a backbone for thriving economies: Get involved”, said that there were a lot of opportunities in Nigeria which the youths and unemployed persons could tap from instead of nursing ambitions to travel abroad for greener pastures.

He emphasised that there are many opportunities in Nigeria that the youths can tap into instead of nursing ambitions to travel abroad.

Ajibade, who is the Project lead and Chief Convener, noted that the programme, organised under the auspices of Gleanforte Academy, was put together to support the government’s efforts to reduce the rates of unemployment, poverty, and insecurity in the country.

He said that the government alone cannot provide the jobs, social amenities, and services that people need.

He also disclosed that there was a need to support local producers for the Nigerian economy to grow.

He added that the need to complement the government’s efforts to tackle unemployment and other social ills prompted him to organise the programme.

“We need to promote our local products, we need to embark on the production of goods that we are producing locally. We cannot just sit down and expect the change to happen. We need to take advantage of the opportunities.

“It gives me pleasure to welcome our important dignitaries and delegates to this maiden edition of Genspark 2026; Entrepreneurs’ Empowerment Summit and Ibadan Business Exhibition, holding live at the Indoor Games Hall, Liberty Stadium, Ibadan from March 17- 21, 2026.

“All praises to almighty God, the giver of life, the one behind this project and for making real our good intentions. Genspark 2026 is a product and advancement of the various entrepreneurial projects that Gleanforte Academy has pursued for many years. The need to fill the obvious gaps affecting professionals and individuals venturing into business, the challenges encountered and the need to provide a platform for excellence in business is the bedrock for this gathering.’’
