Senator representing southern Borno senatorial district at the National Assembly, Sen Ali Ndume has called on the North East Development Commission ( NEDC ), the National Emergency Management Agency ( NEMA ) , as well as humanitarian organisations to come to the aid of over 3000 persons displaced by the recent Boko Haram attack on Ngoshe community , in Gwoza local government area.

The senator who noted that the Ngoshe internally displaced persons ( IDPs ) required urgent attention, called on the victims and people of Gwoza to be resilient and not to be discouraged by the ugly incident.

Ndume said this on Sunday when he visited the Ngoshe IDPs in Pulka where they fled to after the terrorists attacked their community and killed scores of civilians and soldiers, abducting over 100 persons mostly women and children.

The senator who has spent two days in Gwoza engaging stakeholders and community members , assured the IDPs and Gwoza residents that what occurred in 2014 , when Boko Haram terrorists invaded Gwoza and declared it a caliphate before it was liberated by the military will never occur again.

He commended the Nigerian military for their success in Malam Fatori where they collaborated effectively and responded immediately which resulted in the killing of 80 terrorists with about three of their commanders.

Ndume commended president Bola Tinubu for working the talk through the state of emergency he declared on insecurity which is yielding results.

He as well commended Borno State governor, Babagana Umar Zulum, for visiting the Ngoshe IDPs twice after the attack with relief items despite the fact that it was not only Ngoshe and Pulka was recently attacked by the terrorists, but Kukawa, Malam Fatori, Marten among others.

“I have come to commiserate with the Ngoshe IDPs. Besides in each Ramadan, I usually come down to Gwoza to celebrate with the people. I have come home to celebrate the Eid-el-Fitr with the IDPs and the people of Gwoza.

“After visiting the Ngoshe IDPs at Pukka with relief items, I went Wala, Warabe and Gwoza and spent the night engaging stakeholders and various groups.

“We had the opportunity of the governor who was here to sympathise with the people and encouraged them to be resilient. And we are highly honoured today because he did not come empty, but came with relief materials.

“We are expecting that NEDC, NEMA and humanitarian organisations will come in to support the victims of Ngoshe attack because they need urgent help. I want to use this opportunity to thank Governor Zulum for his concern to the plight of the IDPs in Gwoza despite attacks on other local government areas,” Senator Ndume said.
