The Okuokpellagbe of Okpella, His Royal Majesty King Michael Eshioronoya Olorunfemi Sado, has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting education and preserving cultural and religious values, as he honoured the memory of his predecessor at the 7th Annual Qur’an Recitation Competition in Okpella.

The monarch, who attended the event held at FUTAC Schools, Imiagwuese, described the competition as a meaningful tribute to the late HRM Alhaji A.Y.E. Dirisu, noting that his legacy of devotion to education and faith continues to inspire the community.

Addressing participants and guests, the Okuokpellagbe emphasised the importance of combining Islamic and western education, urging young people to remain dedicated to learning as a pathway to personal development and societal advancement.

He commended the organisers for sustaining the annual event, stressing that such initiatives play a vital role in nurturing discipline, moral values, and intellectual growth among youths.

The competition, which featured various categories of Qur’anic recitation, drew students, scholars, parents, and community leaders from across Okpella and neighbouring areas. Participants were recognised and rewarded for their outstanding performances.

The royal father also acknowledged the calls by religious leaders and stakeholders for increased support for Islamic education and the welfare of young scholars, noting that collective efforts are needed to strengthen educational development in the community.
