The South East Youths 4 Progressives (SEY4P) has thrown its weight behind Hon. Chimamkpa Ogbonnaya following his emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) South East Zonal Youth Leader, describing his rise as a defining moment for youth-driven political engagement in the region.

In a statement issued by its Chairman, Comrade Chukwuemeka Ugah, on Thursday, the group said Ogbonnaya’s emergence reflects not only his personal commitment to progressive ideals but also the growing recognition of young leaders as critical stakeholders in the future of the party and the country.

According to the group, the new zonal youth leader’s track record of grassroots mobilization, advocacy for youth empowerment, and loyalty to the APC made him a natural choice for the position at a time the party is seeking to consolidate its foothold in the South East.

Ugah noted that the development sends a strong signal that the APC is serious about inclusiveness and generational renewal, particularly in a region where youth participation is increasingly shaping political outcomes.

He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as “visionary leadership and deliberate efforts” to open up governance spaces for young Nigerians, stressing that such policies are beginning to yield tangible results within the party structure.

The group also commended the APC national leadership, including its National Working Committee, for what it termed a “bold and strategic decision” in entrusting the South East youth structure to a leader with proven capacity and integrity.

In the same vein, SEY4P reserved special praise for the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, acknowledging his role in mentoring emerging leaders and championing the interests of the South East within the ruling party and at the national level.

The group said Kalu’s consistent advocacy for inclusion and development has helped reposition the region within the APC, creating opportunities for credible young leaders like Ogbonnaya to thrive.
Describing the moment as a “new dawn,”

SEY4P expressed confidence that Ogbonnaya would leverage his office to unify young party members across the five South East states, deepen political participation, and drive issue-based engagement that aligns with the aspirations of the people.

The statement further emphasized that his leadership comes at a critical period when the APC is intensifying efforts to expand its influence in the South East ahead of future electoral contests, making youth mobilization a strategic priority.

SEY4P reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the new zonal youth leadership, pledging continued support for initiatives that promote political awareness, economic empowerment, and sustainable development among young people in the region.

The group added that it would also intensify grassroots engagement and advocacy campaigns aimed at strengthening the party’s structures while fostering unity and collective purpose among South East youths.

“With Hon. Ogbonnaya at the helm of youth leadership in the zone, we are confident of a more vibrant, united, and forward-looking APC in the South East,” the statement concluded.
