Google has announced the global expansion of its AI-powered Search Live feature, enabling users in more than 200 countries and territories to interact with its search engine using voice and camera.
The company said the rollout covers all regions where its AI Mode is currently available, marking a significant step in making search more interactive and accessible.
According to Google, the expansion is powered by its latest audio and voice model, Gemini 3.1 Flash Live, designed to deliver more natural and intuitive conversations. The model also supports multiple languages, allowing users to interact with Search in their preferred language.
“This expansion is enabled by our new audio and voice model, Gemini 3.1 Flash Live, which delivers even more natural and intuitive conversations,” the company said.
Google explained that the feature is designed for situations where typing may be inconvenient, enabling users to speak directly to Search and receive audio responses in real time.
“To go live with Search, simply open the Google app on Android or iOS and tap the Live icon under the Search bar. From there, you can ask your question out loud to get a helpful audio response, then continue the conversation with follow-up questions or dive deeper with helpful web links.” the company stated
The tech giant added that the feature also integrates visual capabilities, allowing users to use their device camera to provide context for queries.
“If you want to ask about something in front of you, like how to install a new shelving unit, you can enable your camera to add visual context, “This way, Search can see what your camera sees and offer helpful suggestions, plus links to more information on the web,” it stated.
Google further noted that the Search Live feature can be accessed through Google Lens, enabling real-time conversations based on what users are viewing through their camera.
“You can also access Search Live if you’re already pointing your camera with Google Lens by tapping the Live option at the bottom of the screen to have a real-time, back-and-forth conversation about what you see in the real world,” the company added.
The company reiterated its commitment to improving search capabilities through artificial intelligence, expressing optimism about how users will adopt the feature globally.
“We’re always working to make Search more helpful, and we’re excited to see how people around the world use Search Live to learn, explore and get things done,” it stated.
