Interim head coach John Ogundeji has expressed relief after ABS FC preserved their status in the Nigeria National League following a tense end to the season.
The Ilorin-based side confirmed their survival with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Sokoto United on the final day, a result that ensured they avoided relegation.
Reflecting on the campaign, Ogundeji admitted his side endured a difficult season, particularly in home fixtures, where consistency proved elusive.
“The battle was very tough despite our hard work and dedication,” he said after the match. “We struggled in many of our home games, not because the team lacked quality, but due to factors beyond our control.
“To win our final match away from home and secure survival is a great testimony for us.”
The result capped a nervy campaign for ABS, who had flirted with relegation for much of the season before producing a decisive late escape.
