Popular Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia has voiced her frustration over the increasing trend of hotels, clubs, and bars in Nigeria denying entry to women who are not accompanied by men.
In a series of posts shared on her social media on Monday, the movie producer described the practice as “sickening” and “discriminatory.” She recounted several instances where women were turned away from public spaces simply because they did not have a male partner with them.
Etinosa argued that such policies suggest that a woman’s presence or financial capacity is only valid when validated by a man. She questioned the legality and morality of these rules, noting that they often target women while allowing men to enter freely.
“It is sickening to see that in this age, a woman cannot walk into a hotel or a lounge to relax without being harassed or asked for a man,” she stated. The actress further called on business owners to review their entry policies, emphasising that gender should not be a barrier to accessing public services.
