Victor Boniface is aiming for a dramatic return to the pitch following a remarkable recovery from knee surgery.
The Nigeria international was sidelined in January after an operation initially expected to rule him out for the rest of the season.
However, the 25-year-old resumed training this week, raising the prospect of him featuring for Werder Bremen before the campaign concludes.
“I am happy to be back after three months out,” said Boniface, who will undergo a phased return, training separately from the main squad until he reaches full fitness. “I am now looking forward to what we can achieve at the end of the season.”
Boniface joined the Green and Whites on loan from Bayer Leverkusen last summer and has registered two assists in 11 league appearances.
His potential return comes at a crucial time for Bremen, who currently sit 14th in the Bundesliga table with 28 points from 27 matches—just four points clear of the relegation zone with seven rounds remaining.
