Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi Named Nigeria’s Cleanest States

Akwa Ibom has won the awards for cleanness state for the fifth conservative time followed by Ebonyi  State to beat other 34 states across the country in the Cleanest State for the Year 2022 in Nigeria released by Clean Up Nigeria (CUN).

This was disclosed during a briefing in Abuja organised by CUN in partnership with the Institute De France and the Foundation (SUES), Munich Germany (DSZ), Beautiful Stamford CT (USA) International Council for Environment Initiatives (ICLE) in Abuja.

The national coordinator/secretary of Clean-up Nigeria National Technical Study Group (NTSG) Prof. Ene Baba Owoh Jnr stated that Akwa Ibom State had shown over the years its resilience and commitment to achieving this award and “this was decided by the project partners that for emerging the cleanest state in Nigeria back-to-back in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 and 2022.”

He said Akwa Ibom scored 62 percent and the 2nd and 3rd states (Ebonyi 45 percent and Bauchi 44 percent) respectively.

The Abuja capital city emerged the cleanest city in Nigeria for 2022 with 79 percent followed by Uyo with 63 percent.
