The young centre-back has impressed with his performances for Atalanta this season, making 28 appearances across all competitions and establishing himself as one of Serie A’s emerging defensive talents.
Spanish giants Real Madrid are also believed to be monitoring his progress, though Arsenal are thought to be leading the race after dispatching scouts to watch him in recent months.
The Gunners are reportedly preparing an offer in the region of €35 million, but Atalanta are expected to hold out for closer to €50 million for the versatile defender, who only joined from Genoa last summer for €17 million.
