Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has stated he will not stand in Rodri’s way should the influential midfielder express a desire to leave the Premier League champions. The comments come after Rodri hinted at a potential future move to Real Madrid during the recent March international break.
Guardiola reiterated his long-standing policy that any player unhappy at the Etihad Stadium would be permitted to depart. He remarked: “If one player is not happy, they have to leave, continue the same. Always I think is he’s happy and hopefully he can be happy. But if he’s not happy, just knock on the door of the sporting director, accept an offer, according to his incredible, incredible quality, and after that it all belongs to the club and himself.”
