A support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has called on Christians to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, humility and selflessness as they mark the Easter celebration.
The group under the auspice of Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG), said the season offers an opportunity for reflection on the teachings of Jesus Christ, urging believers to allow His values to shape their conduct and relationships for the good of society.
Speaking with journalists in Akure the state capital, the director-general of the group, Olumuyiwa Asagunla, described Easter as a profound reminder of redemption and the triumph of love over adversity.
According to him, the celebration goes beyond festivity, stressing the need for christians to reflect on Christ’s life, His commitment to service, forgiveness and ultimate sacrifice for humanity.
“Easter transcends the festive pomp and pageantry. It is a season that calls on all believers to reflect deeply on the life of Christ, His unwavering commitment to service, His spirit of forgiveness, and His ultimate sacrifice for humanity,” he said.
Asagunla, however, reaffirmed the group’s commitment to mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.
He urged residents of the state to support the administration’s ongoing reforms, noting that the policies being implemented would yield long-term benefits for the country.
The APC chieftain further disclosed that the group had intensified grassroots mobilisation across all 203 wards in the state, targeting women, youths and the elderly to align with the vision of the minister of interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
He noted that sustained engagement and outreach by the minister of interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, since 2023 had strengthened the party’s base in the state, adding that opposition parties were gradually losing ground as more individuals and groups defect to the APC.
He added, “We have left no ward untouched. Our mobilisation machinery is reaching every hamlet, every market and every constituency. The message is clear: Ondo State will speak with one loud voice for President Tinubu in 2027.
”The minister (Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo) has demonstrated that public office is a platform for service, not self-aggrandisement. His humanitarian footprint is visible, verifiable and deeply appreciated. We salute his commitment to the welfare of the common man.”
Asagunla also condemned the destruction of billboards bearing the image of President Tinubu in parts of Akure, describing the act as unacceptable and a threat to democratic values.
He called on security agencies to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to justice, stressing that political expression should not degenerate into vandalism.
“Destroying the President’s billboards is an attack on democratic culture and the will of millions who stand with him. We urge all lovers of peace to resist such tendencies and report those responsible,” he said.
He reiterated the group’s resolve to remain focused on its grassroots mobilisation drive, insisting that no form of intimidation would deter its commitment to securing overwhelming support for the president in Ondo State in 2027.
