Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) say they deployed 1,803 personnel across the territory to ensure a hitch-free 2026 Easter celebration.

The spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, stated this in a statement in Abuja yesterday.

Adeh said the deployment also included operational assets, adding that churches and recreational centres across the FCT would be covered.

According to her, this proactive measure was designed to reinforce existing policing efforts and ensure the safety of worshippers and residents throughout the festive period.

“The deployment includes enhanced visibility policing, intelligence-led operations, coordinated vehicular and foot patrols, and continuous monitoring, aimed at prompt detection and prevention of criminal activities.

“In addition, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Units have been tasked with conducting routine sweeps of major public and recreational locations to mitigate potential security threats.”

She also said the commissioner of police in charge of the FCT, Mr Ahmed Sanusi, had extended his felicitation to Christians across the territory.

Sanusi also urged residents to embrace the spirit of Easter by promoting peace, unity, and mutual respect.

He enjoined residents to remain law-abiding and encouraged religious leaders to continue preaching messages of tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

He further pledged the commitment of the command to the protection of lives and property before, during, and after the celebrations.

The CP also called for sustained cooperation with the police and other security agencies to ensure a hitch-free festive period.

He urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the command through its emergency lines on 08032003913, 08061581938, and 07057337653.
