Gov Eno Unveils Power Reform Roadmap

As power blackout grounds businesses in Akwa Ibom State in the last couple of months, Governor Umo Eno has  unveiled a comprehensive reform agenda aimed at transforming the state’s power sector.

At a meeting with chairmen of the 31 local government areas and other power sector stakeholders, the governor expressed concern over the incessant energy sector crises and vowed to end it.

He disclosed this at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Uyo, where members of the State Executive Council (SEC), council leaders and the State’s Technical Consultant on Power reviewed outcomes of the September 2025 power summit and the way forward.

Governor Eno noted that the state was making steady progress in implementing the summit’s roadmap, stressing that achieving stable and sustainable electricity requires a deliberate and coordinated approach, assuring that the strategic steps already taken would soon yield positive results and urged for continued stakeholders’ support.

He commended the LGA chairmen for their cooperation, describing state-local government collaboration as critical to the success of his administration’s development agenda.

Briefing journalists at the end of the meeting, the commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah, said the governor also gave a directive for the establishment of the Akwa Ibom State Electricity Regulatory Commission (AISERC), adding that nominees would soon be sent to the State House of Assembly for confirmation.
