Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has paid a courtesy visit to former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, to express appreciation for the latter’s presence at the recent commissioning of landmark projects in the state.
The governor made the disclosure on Wednesday morning via his verified Facebook page, showing the moment Abiodun prostrated for Obasanjo to show appreciation. Prostration is a traditional way of greeting an elder in Yoruba land.
He noted that the visit was to personally thank the elder statesman for honouring the invitation during the official commissioning ceremony carried out by President Bola Tinubu last weekend.
According to Abiodun, the visit reflected his administration’s gratitude for Obasanjo’s participation in the event, which featured the unveiling of major infrastructure projects described as “landmark” developments for Ogun State.
“Yesterday, we had the honour of being with former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to express our sincere appreciation for gracing us with his presence during the commissioning of our landmark projects by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” the governor stated.
LEADERSHIP reports that Governor Abiodun earlier visited President Tinubu at his Lagos residence for the same purpose on Tuesday, where he presented a symbolic sword to the President to reflect his leadership (Jagaba).
