The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has warned prospective corps members against night travels even as it announced the timetable for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation exercise for them, scheduled to hold nationwide.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the scheme’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, who outlined key dates and guidelines.

According to the statement, the three-week orientation programme will be conducted simultaneously across the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for all eligible participants.

The NYSC said registration and camp admission will begin on April 22 and conclude at midnight on April 24 in all orientation camps nationwide.

It added that the swearing-in ceremony will take place on April 24, marking the official start of the orientation activities.

Mrs Embu further noted that the exercise will run until May 12, after which corps members will be deployed to their respective places of primary assignment across the country.

The scheme also advised mobilised graduates to make adequate travel arrangements and ensure their safety en route to their orientation camps.

Reiterating its longstanding warning against night travel, the NYSC urged prospective corps members to prioritise their security while journeying to camp and other designated locations.

“Prospective corps members are advised to break their journeys once it is 6.00 p.m. and pass the night at any available lodge or secure location nearby.

“They are to continue their journeys the following morning,” she said, stressing the importance of complying with the scheme’s safety directives.

The orientation course remains a mandatory component of the national service programme, designed to prepare Nigerian graduates for the one-year service year as a means national integration and unity.
