The 2026 Nationwide League One (NLO) season is set to commence on Friday with an exciting match featuring Flight FC against NYSC FC.
This season promises a significant technological upgrade, as the game will be live-streamed via the new website using AI cameras.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the upcoming season following the release of the full groupings.
Dr. Olushola Ogunnowo, the NLO’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), expressed enthusiasm as the season approaches.
“We are thrilled to kick off the season today (Friday) at McCarthy Stadium in Makurdi, Benue State. The match between Flight FC and NYSC FC is expected to be captivating and will showcase the distinctive style of NLO football.
“The opening game is scheduled for Friday, 10 April 2026, with all other fixtures set to begin next weekend.
“The fixture schedule, aligned with the Stadium League, ensures that players have ample rest and allows for effective planning for the upcoming MatchDays.
“Furthermore, in a move that may not sit well with everyone but underscores NLO’s commitment to transparency, the fixtures outline how group winners will be determined through a single-leg playoff.”
