Nigeria’s Solomon Alegu is set to represent his country in the -59kg category at the World Taekwondo Junior Championships, scheduled to take place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from April 12th to 17th.
The global event is expected to draw a robust field of junior athletes, with the -59kg division alone attracting 65 competitors, making it one of the most populous weight categories at the championships.
Alegu, who competes domestically for Edo State, was developed under the tutelage of Coach Inyagha Ezenwa in Ebonyi State and has consistently advanced through the national ranks. He secured a bronze medal at last year’s African Junior Games in Angola.
He is slated to compete on April 15th, where he will face a deep and competitive field, providing another significant test at world level. Accompanying him as part of Nigeria’s delegation will be coach Santos Akhilele.
The Nigeria Taekwondo Federation continues its commitment to providing athletes with international competition opportunities and valuable experience at major tournaments.
