Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, has asserted that no nation can achieve meaningful development without quality education.

He therefore called on state governors to prioritise the adequate funding of the sector.

Alausa stated this during the inauguration of the newly completed and equipped GYB Model Secondary Schools in Nagazi in Adavi government area and Okebuku in Kabba/Bunu LGA of Kogi State.

The minister commended the governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his commitment to education reforms, noting that the administration had judiciously deployed state resources to improve education and other critical sectors.

He said the Federal Ministry of Education was implementing far-reaching reforms to strengthen technical education and promote girl-child education in the country.

According to him, over 160,000 youths are currently enrolled in skill-acquisition programmes at more than 1,200 centres nationwide.

Addressing the students of the school, Alausa urged them to take their studies seriously, noting that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration remains committed to providing quality education and relevant skills to secure their future.

“Governor Ododo has provided you with a standard and well-equipped school. Make good use of these facilities and develop yourselves. The President has created opportunities for you to excel in life,” he said.

In his remarks, Governor Ododo said the establishment of model schools across the three senatorial districts was aimed at ensuring that children have access to quality education.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustained investment in the sector and urged the students to remain focused on their studies while directing the school management to properly maintain the facilities.

Also, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Ahmed-Tijani Anaje, described the project as a vision for the community’s future.

“Education remains the foundation of every strong and progressive society. Investments in education will benefit generations to come,” he said.

Earlier, the commissioner for Education, Wemi Jones, applauded the governor’s strides in the education sector and charged both staff and students to ensure proper maintenance and utilisation of the facilities.
