Ademola Lookman emerged as the hero for Atletico Madrid tonight, scoring the decisive goal in a thrilling 2-1 defeat to Barcelona that nonetheless saw them progress to the UEFA Champions League semifinals with a 3-2 aggregate victory. The tension was palpable at the Wanda Metropolitano as Barcelona fought valiantly to overturn a 2-0 first-leg deficit.

Barcelona started with intent, and their early pressure paid off. Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the 4th minute, giving the visitors an immediate boost. Ferran Torres then doubled Barcelona’s lead in the 24th minute, leveling the aggregate score and sending a shockwave through the home crowd.

However, Atletico, known for their resilience, found a crucial lifeline in the 31st minute. A well-worked move saw Marcos Llorente set up Ademola Lookman, who calmly slotted the ball home, reducing the deficit on the night to 2-1 and restoring Atletico’s aggregate lead to 3-2.
