Kogi State Police Command has arrested six suspects, including a teenager, in connection with a viral school bullying and assault incident involving a student of Federal University, Lokoja (FUL).

The command disclosed that the case was reported on March 30, 2026, at the ‘B’ Division in Lokoja by the victim, Oladosu Sunday, a student of the institution.

The matter was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

According to the police, those arrested are Inajo Henry, Nzekwe Victor, Lucky Victor, Lucky Gambo, Paul David and a 17-year-old, all students of the university.

Preliminary findings revealed that the suspects allegedly conspired to falsely accuse the victim of homosexuality and lured him to an apartment near the Living Faith Church area in Felele, Lokoja, on March 29 at about 9:00 p.m.

The police said the victim was confined in a room, stripped naked and subjected to severe assault using belts and charging cords, while the attackers recorded the incident.

The video was later circulated online, where it went viral within the university community.

Investigators further stated that the suspects admitted the act was premeditated and based solely on unverified claims about the victim’s behaviour.

The Police confirmed that investigations have been concluded and the suspects have been arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction.

Condemning the act, the Command warned against jungle justice, cyberbullying, and other forms of criminality, stressing that such actions violate fundamental human rights and will not be tolerated.

The Commissioner of Police, Naziru Bello Kankarofi, reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging members of the public to seek lawful means of resolving grievances and to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in tackling crime.
