Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria Limited (DPAN), citing its role in job creation and economic growth.

The governor made the pledge while receiving the management of the company on a courtesy visit, stressing that Kaduna’s favourable business climate makes it an attractive destination for investors. He noted that the state currently ranks among the top performers in Nigeria’s Ease of Doing Business index.

Sani explained that the state government holds a significant stake in the company, with about 11.7 per cent equity, which further underscores the need to ensure its success.
According to him, DPAN has already created around 1,000 direct jobs, with many more benefiting indirectly through its operations.

He added that Kaduna continues to strengthen its infrastructure, particularly in the transportation sector, revealing plans for a major Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system that will be the second of its kind in Nigeria after Lagos. He also highlighted the development of ultramodern bus terminals, with one completed and another nearing completion.

On investment inflows, the governor disclosed that Kaduna has attracted approximately $3.5 billion in local and foreign investments, with $743 million already realised and the remaining $2.76 billion in the pipeline.

Earlier, DPAN’s managing director, Ibrahim Issa Gachi, urged the state government to prioritise the use of locally- assembled vehicles in its official fleet and public services. He also called on the governor to advocate for wider adoption of DPAN vehicles across other states.

Gachi further proposed strategic collaboration with the Kaduna State Government on mass transit and mobility projects using the company’s vehicle range.

Looking ahead, he revealed plans for expansion, including the introduction of new brands such as Citroën, Fiat, and Leapmotor into the Nigerian market by 2027.

The expanded lineup is expected to include sedans, SUVs, buses, and micromobility options powered by petrol, diesel, compressed natural gas, and electric systems.

He also disclosed plans to introduce advanced Range-Extended Electric Vehicles (REEVs), which combine electric propulsion with a small internal combustion engine that serves as a backup generator.

Gachi concluded by inviting Governor Sani to formally unveil the 2026 Peugeot models at the company’s facility within the next four weeks.
