The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State on Wednesday expressed optimism that it is going into the June 20 governorship election in the state for victory and make history in the process.

The party, which pledged to make its campaigns issue-based ahead of the poll, urged its supporters to market the records of the party candidate to the people and eschew violence.

The Director General of APC Governorship Election Campaign Council/2026 BAO Campaign Organisation, Senator Cyril Fasuyi, who stated these yesterday at a press conference in Ado-Ekiti, the party’s electioneering campaign is not just about victory but about history.

The APC campaign DG, who explained that the governor is seeking re-election on the strength of his first term’s giant strides and in response to the wishes of the people, said, “In 20222, when BAO was coming for the first term, our campaign focus then was to just win the election irrespective of votes and gap.

“But this time around, the strategy, the mission and the vision are different because we want to set a record. None of the past gubernatorial election winners has won with over 500,000 votes. Even in 2022, BAO won in 15 out of 16 available local government areas; we want to surpass that.

Win in all 16 LGAs, 177 wards and 2445 units. We want at least 62 per cent of the registered voters to vote for the APC. We want to ride on the good image of BAO and the national popularity of the APC with the setting up of the canvassers to win the election”

Fasuyi, who is presently representing Ekiti North Senatorial District at the national assembly, said, “Our campaign will be issue-based. We are not here to trade insults, but the council is here to present the records, results, and roadmap of the party’s gubernatorial candidate to the people.

On the need for APC members, supporters and loyalists to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the campaigns, he said, “Our directive is clear, perish the thought of violence from our side. We have told every one of our members to market our record and not abuse any opponent. Governor Oyebanji has kept Ekiti the most secure state in Nigeria. We will not destroy that record during the campaign. We will deal in facts, not fights”.

Senator Fasuyi said the council’s objective is for the APC to win the governorship for Governor Oyebanji in all the state’s 177 wards. “We are targeting a minimum of 500,000 votes, with discipline and hard work, it is achievable”.
