Nollywood actress Kenny George has publicly thrown her weight behind colleague Toyin Abraham, following a wave of online criticism triggered by allegations from her former protege, Abike Shugaa.
In a supportive message shared via her Instagram handle, George commended Abraham’s resilience and talent, urging her not to be distracted by the “ups and downs” of social media scrutiny. She emphasised that the opinions of a few vocal critics do not define Abraham’s professional worth or her contributions to the film industry.
“My everyday crush, I just wanted to remind you how incredibly talented you are. Navigating social media can be tough, but remember that the opinions of a few don’t define your worth. Your passion and dedication shine through in everything you do,” George wrote.
The public show of solidarity comes on the heels of a viral video by content creator and influencer Abike Shugaa, also known as Pelumi Olawuni. Shugaa had detailed a fallout in their mentorship, raising concerns over her involvement in Abraham’s movie projects. Specifically, the influencer alleged that her scenes were removed from the final cut of the movie Ijakumo and questioned her remuneration.
Toyin Abraham has since debunked the claims, providing clarifications on their professional dealings and denying any wrongdoing.
